2019/20 Premier League
30 November – 1 December 2019
Manchester United will look to out-gun Aston Villa when the teams meet at Old Trafford on Sunday 1 December 2019, kick-off at 19:30. The match is one of 10 across the weekend for the 14th round of the Premier League season.
Man United come into the game on the back of a 3-3 draw away to Sheffield United this past Sunday. The Red Devils fought back from two goals down to lead the game, but ended up conceding a late strike to the Blades to settle for a share of the spoils.
“It’s mixed emotions. You can’t be happy because we’ve not performed for the majority of the game, but then the attitude and the way they turned things around, and we’ve shown what we’re capable of and these boys have probably shown themselves what they’re capable of,” explained manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“If we’re right, we can go to places like this and we should win games like this, but we have got to learn from that disappointing first 60 to 70 minutes.”
Villa claimed a key win when they defeat Newcastle United (and former boss Steve Bruce) 2-0 on Monday night, courtesy of goals from Conor Hourihane and Anwar El Ghazi. The result took the Lions four points clear of the relegation zone.

“This is a really tough league and we have just gone through a period of playing Manchester City and Liverpool, which were games I thought we actually played well in,” manager Dean Smith said.
“The table is so tight but you need to put a run together, be tough to beat and keep a clean sheet. I’m really pleased with the clean sheet tonight as we haven’t had too many of those this season.”
In head-to-head stats, United and Villa have met in 161 previous matches. The Red Devils have claimed 85 wins compared to 38 for the Birmingham team, while 38 games have been drawn.
The teams last met in the Premier League in the 2015/16 season. United completed a league double in that campaign by winning 1-0 both at Villa Park in August 2015 and at Old Trafford on April 2016. Villa’s last win over the Red Devils was back in December 2009.
