A few established talents have flattered to deceive thus far in the 2019/20 English Premier League season.
We take a look at the top 10 players who have underperformed.
Jesse Lingard - Manchester United
The English playmaker came into the current season as one of United's key players, but has struggled to find his old form under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
Lingard, who has made only nine starts in the league, has failed to register a single assist nor goal which has seen him lose his place in the Red Devils' starting line-up.
As a result, the 27-year-old player has also lost his place in the England squad.
"Jesse has had his ups and downs as I’ve spoken about before, but against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, two examples of how important he can be for us in difficult games. We want him back scoring and making assists," Solskjaer said.
"There's no one who runs as much, great trigger in the pressing, lively bubbly character. I don’t think you see as much social media from Jesse as you used to. He's got his head down and working hard and getting back to the Jesse I knew."
Moise Kean - Everton
The Italian starlet has proved to be a flop signing thus far at Everton having struggled to impress even under his compatriot Carlo Ancelotti.
Kean, who impressed at Italian champions Juventus last season, is a benchwarmer having started only five league matches and scored once from 22 appearances.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are both preferred ahead of Kean, who arrived at Everton after the club paid Juventus €27.5 million, plus €2.5 million in add-ons.
David Luiz - Arsenal
The Brazilian defender arrived at Arsenal from their London rivals Chelsea with high expectations at the beginning of the current season.
Luiz has been inconsistent at the heart of the Gunners' backline and as a result the team has the third-worst defence in the top nine teams on the league standings.
The former Paris Saint Germain centre back tends to make unnecessary fouls having registered four yellow cards thus far.
David De Gea - Manchester United
Clean Sheets: 8
The Spanish shot-stopper was once regarded as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, but Manchester City's Ederson and Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker are now rated above him.
De Gea has become an error-ridden keeper in recent seasons and some have called for him to be dropped from the team's starting line-up.
The former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper has already lost his place in Spain's starting line-up to Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Kepa Arrizabalaga - Chelsea
Clean sheets: 6
The world's most expensive goalkeeper has struggled in his second season in the Premier League at Chelsea under manager Frank Lampard.
Kepa was relegated to the bench in February 2020 as he was underperforming as Chelsea have the worst defence amongst the top four teams on the league table.
The Spain international is now fighting for his future at the former Premier League champions having failed to impress thus far.
Raheem Sterling - Manchester City
The English forward has been inconsistent this season which has since him spend quite some time on the bench under City manager Pepe Guardiola.
Sterling, who was one of City's best performers last season, failed to score in his last seven Premier League matches.
The former Liverpool winger, who has only one assist in the current campaign, underperformed in his last two league games which City lost.
Naby Keita - Liverpool FC
The Guinea international has found it difficult to impress whenever he is fit under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp this season.
Keita, who is an attacking midfielder by trade, has featured in nine Premier League matches and registered only one goal, and one assist.
The 25-year-old playmaker has fallen down the pecking order behind Georginio Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana and James Milner in midfield.

Nicolas Pepe - Arsenal
The Ivorian winger arrived at Arsenal from French side Ligue 1 with high expectations after the Gunners paid a club-record fee of £72 million.
However, Pepe has struggled with the pace and physicality of the Premier League having netted only four goals in the competition.
The skillful player is widely considered to be one of the flop signings of the season and needs to prove himself under manager Mikel Arteta.
"It's part of his development. He needs to open more doors to be more unpredictable for the opponent and give more options as well offensively to us," Arteta said.
"He's working on it, he will improve, he will get better. He's got the talent, an immense quality and he's willing to do it."
Jan Vertonghen - Tottenham Hotspur
Clean Sheets: 3
The Belgium international is regarded to be one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, but he has struggled for form this season.
Vertonghen has also lost his place in the starting line-up under manager Jose Mourinho with Davinson Sanchez preferred ahead of him.
The former Ajax Amsterdam defender is reportedly set to leave Tottenham at the end of the current campaign.
Pedro - Chelsea
The Spanish winger was expected to enjoy regular game time at Chelsea following the departure of Belgian superstar Eden Hazard.
However, Petro has fallen out-of-favour under manager Frank Lampard and looks a shadow of himself whenever he features for the team.
The 32-year-old player, who has scored once in nine Premier League matches this season, is expected to leave the club when the season ends.
