2019/20 Premier League
8-10 November 2019
Southampton and Everton will scrap for three Premier League
points when they meet at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday 9 November 2019, kick-off at 18:00. The clash is one of 10 in the 12th
round of England’s top flight this coming weekend.
Southampton come into the clash on the back of a 2-1 loss away to Manchester City this past weekend, though it was a much improved performance from the Saints compared to their 9-0 loss at the hands of Leicester City in the game prior.
Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl was pleased with his side’s reaction and feels they did well to even get under the skin of City boss Pep Guardiola: “It was absolutely necessary for the players to show on the pitch that they care, not just saying sorry. And that is what I wanted to see.”
He added, “I think Pep was a little nervous he could lose the game. You saw how much he was celebrating when they scored.”

Everton struggles in the league continued this past Sunday when they could only draw 1-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur. Yet it is a result the Toffees can take some solace from, as they fought back to salvage a share of the spoils through Cenk Tosun.
However, they lost influential midfielder Andre Gomes to a horror injury and the Spaniard is set to be sidelined for several months. “It was the toughest moment for us this season. I made some changes in this moment. I called some players to talk to them and give them some messages,” said manager Marco Silva, who added: "We showed a very good reaction and a great character.”
In head-to-head stats, Southampton and Everton have met in 85 previous matches. The Toffees have claimed 41 wins compared to 26 for the Saints, while 18 games have been drawn.
The teams’ Premier League meetings last season produced two home wins: Everton triumphed 2-1 at Goodison Park in August 2018, while the return game at St Mary’s Stadium in January 2019 ended 2-1 in favour of Southampton.
