Serie A leaders Inter out to extend winning run

2019/20 Italian Serie A

28-30 September 2019
Match Day 6

Matchday 6 of the 2019/20 Serie A season will commence this weekend with defending champions Juventus hosting SPAL in the opening fixture of the round.

The Old Lady sit two points behind Inter after five rounds of league fixtures, following a 2-1 win away to Brescia on Tuesday evening.

Star forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored two goals in four league games this season, missed the club's trip to Stadio Mario Rigamonti and it is unclear whether he will be declared fit in time to face a battling SPAL side in Turin on Saturday.

Focus will then switch to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris where Sampdoria will play host to an Inter side who have won five out of five in the league this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored two goals in four Serie A games this season.

Spearhead by the in-form Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Conte has breathed new life into the Milan club. The former Juventus and Chelsea boss won the league title in his first season at both clubs, something he will be hoping to replicate this season as Inter aim to break the Old Lady's dominant spell.

In the only other game on Saturday, Sassuolo will play host to Atalanta in a battle of two of the league's top scorers. Domenico Berardi has netted five goals already this season, while the visitors Duvan Zapata has continued to impress in the current campaign; boasting four goals at this early stage.

The pair of Alejandro Dario Gomez and Alfred Duncan of Atlanta and Sassuolo respectively have also racked up the second most assists this season with three apiece.

Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off in Napoli midweek defeat to Cagliari.

The pick of the games on Sunday is set for the San Siro where AC Milan will play host to Fiorentina while Napoli will be aiming to bounce back from defeat to Cagliari in midweek when they face Brescia. They will have to do so without star defender Kalidou Koulibaly, though, after he was sent off in their most recent encounter.

Parma will host Torino in the only game on Monday.
