The 2019/20 season saw Real Madrid's inspirational captain and defender Sergio Ramos break and set La Liga records.
The Spain international played in his 43rd El Clasico claiming the all-time appearance record for this historic fixture in December 2019.
Ramos played an integral role in helping the Whites keep a clean sheet against a Barcelona side, whose attack was led by world-class attackers Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez.

A month later, the tough-tackling player netted against Osasuna as Real won 4-1 at Estadio El Sadar and this meant that he had scored in 20 different La Liga stadiums.
Furthermore, this was his first La Liga goal of 2020, meaning he was the only player to score in La Liga in each of the last 17 calendar years - dating back to 2004.
In February 2020, Ramos led Real to a 2-0 win over the reigning La Liga champions Barcelona and he broke another record.
It was his 21st consecutive Clasico in all competitions and his 30th in La Liga with Real Madrid - meaning he has not missed a single league Clasico since joining Los Blancos in 2005.
Real club president Florentino Perez told Movistar: “Ramos will surely end his career at Madrid. Although there is talk of that, it will not change, everyone is calm. He is more than a captain. He has led the team with enormous leadership.”
Ramos continued to produce excellent displays after the season resumed in June 2020 having been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020.
The former Sevilla player netted in a 2-0 win over Real Mallorca at the Alfredo di Stefano to become La Liga's All-Time scoring defender with 68 goals, surpassing Ronald Koeman in June 2020.
Furthermore, the goal was also his eighth La Liga goal of the season, making it his most prolific league campaign to date and his tenth in all competitions – hitting double figures for a third season.
Gifted with pace and great heading ability, Ramos equalled the record set by Ezequiel Garay in 2006/07 for a defender with the most goals in a single La Liga season in July 2020.
This was when he netted his ninth league goal of the season in the 1-0 win over Getafe and the goal meant that he had equalled his best goal-scoring season (11 goals) which was set in the 2018/19 season.
The goal was also his 100th career club goal, and his 70th in La Liga and win was his 450th La Liga as a Real player, becoming just the fifth player to reach this milestone.
Ramos then became the first central defender to score 10 goals in a La Liga season since Fernando Hierro during the 1993/94 season.
The Camas-born player achieved this feat when he scored in a 1-0 away win over Athletic Bilbao on 05 July 2020 and he went on to lead Real to their 34th La Liga title.
