Leeds marked their return to top-flight football for the first time in 16 years with a pulsating 4-3 loss away to Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield this past weekend.

The Championship champions held their own from start to finish and came close to winning a point on their travels thanks to goals from Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford and Mateusz Klich.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa was suitably pleased with his troops and will be hoping for a ruthless display in their first home game of the season.

For the fans

"Liverpool made it hard for us to neutralise them," Bielsa told Sky Sports.

"In the second half especially we struggled to get the ball from defence to attack.

"We also stopped Liverpool playing like they usually do and we made a lot of effort. During large parts of the game we were able to match them."

It was quite the opposite for Fulham on their return to the Premier League as they slumped to a 3-0 loss at home to Arsenal at Craven Cottage in the opening game of the season. New signings Mario Lemina, Ola Aina and Kenny Tete will provide valuable impetus as Scott Parker's troops aim to put on a better showing on matchday two.

Their two meetings in the Championship last season conjured a win apiece. Fulham won 2-1 in London before a 3-0 win for Leeds in their run-in to the league title.
