Europa League Preview : Liverpool vs Villareal

Liverpool host Villareal looking to repeat their come from behind heroics against Dortmund by overturn a 1-0 first leg deficit. Villareal lead the tie through a late Adrian Lopez goal in the first leg and will hope to press home their advantage.

Liverpool have a history of making stunning comebacks with their breathtaking 4-3 win over Borussia Dortmund being their latest example. They have Emre Can back in the squad after he recovered from injury. In other injury news, Divock Origi and Jordan Henderson are still out while Mamadou Sakho is banned.

Villareal with their first leg lead have a fully fit squad to pick from. The Yellow Submarine rested their big guns on the weekend and they will be raring to go. They have never been to a European final and will hope that this is their year to make history. They have enjoyed a good domestic season and lie 4th in La Liga having also qualified for the Champions League

Both managers have talked up their team’s chances of winning the tie with Jürgen Klopp particularly bullish. The German said in an interview "The only thing I thought in this moment was 'half-time'. Nothing happened. They have to come to Anfield." Villareal won’t be daunted by the atmosphere at Anfield according to their coach Marcelino Toral. “We come here full of hope, we are going to give everything we have got and we will enjoy ourselves. We feel we have the capabilities to make it through to the final" he said.

Liverpool will know they could have played better in the first leg but Villareal showed that they can be dangerous by scoring the only goal of the tie thus far. The Reds will be favorites to overturn the deficit and advance but will be wary not to make the same mistakes they did at the El Madrigal a week ago.
