2019/20 Premier League
Round 27
22-24 February 2020
Crystal Palace and Newcastle United will battle for three crucial points when they meet at Selhurst Park on Saturday 22 February 2020, kick-off at 18:00. The match is one of 10 spread from 22 to 24 February for the 27
h round of the
2019/20 Premier League season.
Palace come into the clash on the back of a 3-1 loss away to Everton on February 8 – the result was a third straight defeat and extended their winless run across all competitions to eight matches.
Manager Roy Hodgson is hoping that the Eagles’ recent recess will have seen his players recharge their batteries: “The idea of this winter break is that the players should be given a mental and physical break. We [have given] them a programme and hoping the break will allow us to come back fresher and start to get some points and score goals.”

Newcastle suffered a 4-0 hammering in their last outing, going down away to Arsenal this past Sunday evening. The Magpies have now won just once in their last eight Premier League matches and need to be wary of a slip toward the relegation zone.
“The reason we’ve had a little bit of success is that resilience to defend and play against team like we have done. We haven’t done enough,” said manager Steve Bruce. “When you get a beating like we have, you need to lick your wounds and show your resilience.”
In head-to-head stats, Palace and Newcastle have met in 46 previous matches. The Magpies have claimed 27 wins compared to 10 for the Eagles, while nine games have been drawn.
When the teams met in the Premier League earlier this season, at St James Park in December 2019, Newcastle claimed a 1-0 win thanks to a late goal from Miguel Almiron.
