Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso will be eager to bounce back at the French Grand Prix on October 11.

The Italian star produced a disappointing performance at the recent Catalan Grand Prix where he was forced to retire.

Dovizioso was forced to retire on the first lap as he got involved in a crash and he will be keen to secure his second win of the season by winning the French Grand Prix.

The enthralling Catalan Grand race was won by Yamaha rider Fabian Quartararo, who secured his third win of the season.

Suzuki duo of Joan Mir and Alex Rins finished second and third respectively.

Quartararo is now placed at the top of the riders' standings after leapfrogging Dovizioso, who was the leader heading into the Catalan Grand Prix.

Mir and Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales are placed second and third respectively on the standings.

Dovizioso is now placed fourth on the riders' standings - 28 points behind the leader Quartararo as the race for the championship continues.

The 34-year-old believes that the title race is still open, but he says he needs to be more competitive.

“Crashing out at the second corner is always difficult to digest, and I’m sorry for how the race went today," Dovizioso said.

"I had focused on making a good start, and at the end of the straight, I managed to recover several positions.

"Unfortunately, I got involved in an accident on the first lap, which was the result of a normal race dynamic. The Championship is potentially still open," he added.

"But, if we want to challenge for the title, now more than ever, we need to return to the levels of competitiveness to which we are used to."

Yamaha are sitting at the top of Manufacturers' Championship standings with 163 points.

Ducati and Suzuki are placed second and third with 126 and 113 points respectively on the standings.
