2021/22 Premier League

13 August 2021 - 22 May 2022
The battle to become the kings of English football in the 2021/22 season has seen three teams emerge as the strong contenders for the Premier League title.
Betway chose three of the best teams in the current term:
After winning the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League trophy by defeating Manchester City in the final, Chelsea were tipped by some as the favourites to win this season's Premier League
The Blues have had a strong start to the current campaign - winning 10 of their 15 games, while recording the joint least number of defeats (two) and three draws which sees them placed third on the league standings - two points behind leaders, Manchester City.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has preferred a 3–4–2–1, with ball progression largely coming from the wingbacks, a position mainly played by Reece James and Ben Chilwell, who have both been very influential for the team.
In Jorginho and N'Golo Kante, the Blues probably have the best central midfield pairing in England, while Mason Mount has been exiting upfront as he creates and scores for the London giants.
"Chelsea will win the league, I’m throwing it out there now, they’re winning the league. They are so strong," former Chelsea and Liverpool star Joe Cole told Metro.
‘I’ve watched them every game this season and they’re not conceding goals. They have the strongest defence by a mile and we’ve seen the importance of having a strong defence over the years.’

The return from arguably the best central defender in the world Virgil Van Dijk from a long-term injury has been vital for Liverpool FC in the pursuit of their second Premier League title under their world-class manager Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool are placed second on the league standings - a point behind leaders, City having recorded the least number of defeats (one) and they are also the highest-scoring team in the competition with 44 goals.
The Reds boast of a world-class spine with Alisson Becker having kept the most clean sheets (8) in the league, while Van Dijk is slowly regaining his old form and Thiago Alcantara is replicating the form which saw him being considered among the best midfielders in the world.
Upfront, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino have been prolific as they continue to flourish under Klopp's Gegenpressing style of play.

The Citizens remain the team to beat in the Premier League as they are the reigning English champions and they are also sitting at the top of the league standings as things stand.
Per Guardiola's side endured a slow start to the current season, but they have regained the form which saw him clinch the 2020/21 league title having won five successive matches and conceded the joint least number of goals (nine).
Hailed as the most exciting team in the Premier League by some, the Citizens tend to retain possession of the ball and dictate play under Guardiola with Ederson - a goalkeeper - a key figure in their build-up play from the back, while Ruben Dias a top-class ball-playing central defender.
In Kevin De Bruyne, the Citizens have arguably the best midfielder in the league at the moment and Bernard Silva has become a reliable goalscorer for the team, while Raheem Sterling has a knack for scoring important goals.
