The Reds claimed a first Premier League title and first top division crown in thirty years following an impressive campaign in which they blew their rivals away. Jurgen Klopp has been able to keep hold of all his star players despite rumours of Georginio Wijnaldum leaving for Barcelona and will be hoping to add back-to-back league titles to his resume.

Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years on the back of an impressive Championship campaign. The Whites have bolstered their squad with the signings of Rodrigo and Robin Koch and will feel their playing style is well suited to top-flight football.

The two teams will lock horns for the first time in top-flight action since a 2-2 draw at Elland Road in February 2004. Harry Kewell, who played for both clubs, was amongst the scorers on the day.

“We have to make sure we now get ready for the first game against Leeds because that will be a really tough one," said Klopp in the build up to the fixture.

“Leeds have a specific style of play, man-marking over the whole pitch and makes it properly intense. We have to be ready for that, but we have a few days."
