2021/22 English Premier League

Matchday 34

Brentford v Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham will look to maintain their grip on fourth spot in the Premier League when they take on Brentford in a London derby at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday, April 23.

Spurs left the door slightly ajar in the race for Champions League football after suffering a surprise 1-0 defeat to Brighton over the Easter weekend, which halted a four-match winning streak.

Antonio Conte's side saw Manchester United close within three points of them in fifth place with a 3-2 victory over Norwich, while Arsenal dropped to sixth following a 1-0 loss at Southampton.

Conte admits lessons will be learned from their setback against the Seagulls and has stressed the importance of handling pressure situations as the season enters its final month.

"For sure, there is big disappointment for the final result," the Italian said. "Also, because I think we can do much better. A lesson to learn is that there are games where if you are not able to win, you are not to lose.

"Honestly, at the end of the game, the draw is a fair result. Instead, we are talking about a loss.

"Now there are six games to go. This race is a big opportunity for us to start to try to cope with the pressure, because when you play without targets ... instead, we deserve to stay in this race and go for a place in the Champions League."

The west Londoners continued their recent resurgence with a 2-1 success over Watford at Vicarage Road to move within a point of the top 10 in 11th position.

Thomas Frank's team have now won five of their last six games and the Danish tactician hailed fighting spirit of his players after yet another late winner was scored.

"It's been in many ways a crazy season for us, a remarkable season," Frank said. "We're now on 39 points, try to keep focus on winning the next game and finish as high as possible.

"We've had three last-minute winners this season and that shows two things: we are unbelievably fit and that's why we keep going throughout the game and the character and the mentality of the group of players is remarkable."
