Leicester City will hope for another goal feast against Southampton when the teams meet in a Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on Saturday 11 January 2020, kick-off at 18:00. The match is one of 10 spread across the weekend of 10-12 January for Round 22 of the current English top-flight season.

Leicester continued their excellent form across all competitions this week, defeating Newcastle United 3-0 in the Premier League and Wigan Athletic 2-0 in the FA Cup, before facing Aston Villa in the League Cup this midweek.

“Well, we got the result. The performance wasn’t really what we would want. Certainly it is important,” admitted manager Brenda Rodgers, who added: “So for us to get through was very important for us and we did that. Some players came in and got games, which was great but our process here is always about performance and we know we can play better.”

Southampton’s last Premier League outing brought a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, while they followed that up with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup in which captain James Ward-Prowse put in an excellent showing.

“He also has a fantastic mind and was also a fantastic captain today. You can always count on him, he’s a very important player for us,” said manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

In head-to-head terms, Leicester and Southampton have met in 60 previous matches. The Saints have claimed 23 wins compared to 20 for the Foxes, while 17 games have been drawn.

Leicester claimed a massive 9-0 win at St Mary’s Stadium when the teams met in the Premier League back in October 2019, with goals from Ben Chilwell, Yoeri Tielemans, Ayoze Perez (three), Jamie Vardy (three) and James Maddison.
