As we honour our independence heroes this Mashujaa Day, we also shine a light on the mashujaas in our society who are positively influencing communities through sport.

Author Lailah Gifty Akita is quoted as saying that every great achiever is inspired by a great mentor. Many successful sports players credit individuals close to them like coaches and senior players as the reason for their success.

We as Betway pride ourselves as having a keen interest in supporting communities to achieve sustainability. With the recent rollout of the Betway Cares initiative, Betway aimed to assist families in disadvantaged communities, to get through the Covid pandemic, by providing care packages.

Over the years, Betway has shown support for various communities in Kenya through its Community Sport Development program. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit Kenya, business shut down amidst the work-from-home directive issued by the government and many others had to let go of their staff, as they could not sustain them. 

Betway announced that in conjunction with St. John Ambulance, it would be facilitating a medical training camp for local football teams at the Dandora Stadium. The two-day medical training camp will run from 31 October – 1 November and consist of theory training on the first day followed by practical application on the second day.
 

Betway has unveiled the newly renovated community hall for the Alswafa Football Club. The unveiling took place at the Alswafa Football Club grounds in Kibra, where the club is based. The event was graced by Betway’s Country Manager Leon Kiptum.

Betway Kenya will hold a women’s volleyball tournament with teams from the slum areas of Kibera, Mukuru Kawangware and Kiambiu at the Public Service Grounds in upper hill.

Bissil FC and Lenkishon FC from Kajiado will hold a Moran derby at Bissil Township Primary School on Saturday 29^th Sep 2018. Both teams are this month’s beneficiaries of football kits from Betway as a boost to grassroots soccer.

Betway Kenya, in partnership with the Kenya Football Federation of the Deaf, will be hosting this year’s Betway National Deaf Football Championships.

Betway Kenya has donated kits to Kibagare FC in Kangemi. This will be a huge boost to the ladies football club that is currently playing in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nairobi County Womens Provincial League.
